In the current state of the world, being a true Christian often feels like a rarity. Many people who often confess to being Christians lack the values and conviction to stand true to their confession of faith. To most, being a Christian is merely an affiliation — a tradition, a family religion — instead of a true relationship with Father God.
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
The world has over-simplified Christianity like all other religions into merely doing good, self-love, and not using plastic straws but Christianity is inconceivably more to anyone who wants a relationship with Father God and not just to have something to do on a Sunday morning. If we are to truly live as Christian in this world that is bereft of conviction and holiness, we must understand our distinction is not about what we are but whose we are.
If we say we have a relationship with God, then we are also of God. That means we love the things He loves and hate the things He hates, because this is what a relationship feels like. When under pressure to go with the flow and compromise, remember: only dead fish go with the flow.
One + God is still the majority.
Matthew 6:24
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Today’s Prayer:
Father, I thank You for the grace to stand in Your truth. Lord, help me stand firm, especially when there is pressure to compromise. Lord, remind me of who I am in You so I may not waver in my convictions and my values. Help me live for your glory and may my life bring you praise.
