Do you sometimes wonder what is God calling you to do? Which options should you choose in your career? What profession is God calling you towards that will grant you the highest satisfaction and provide the most value?
My dear child, you stand at the junction of life where you find yourself drawn towards a calling. Answering the call of God is much bigger than any one job. Each of us is gifted with a divine profession, a purpose in life, carefully woven by the hands of God. It is our sacred responsibility to embrace it with courage and unwavering faith.
Why You Must Excel in Your Job. Christ is present in your workplace.
As Christians, our job is not merely a way to ensure our financial security, but also a means by which we can contribute and make an impact on the world. It is a test of our faith, and a testimony to the greatness of our Lord when we excel at our responsibilities.
Understandably, there are situations where workplace environment is a drain on your energy. Bad managers, lousy colleagues and a toxic work environment are the means by which the Devil tries to stifle your motivation and make you lose hope. These and other factors may make you tired and feeling bitter, often wondering “why should I work so hard just to satisfy this ungrateful boss?”.
There is virtue in the principle of being meticulous in your work. The bible tells us:
“Whatever you do, do it from the heart for the Lord and not for people. You know that you will receive an inheritance as a reward. You serve the Lord Christ.” // Colossians 3:23-24
Did you know that your work can be a form of worship for Christ? You spend so much of your time at work that it forms a big part of of your life. Does it not make sense then that you should ensure that Christ is present in the workplace?
Even in the little things like showing kindness to a colleague or customer, or going out of your way to make your clients happy, these are testimony of our acceptance of the love of Christ in our lives. Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Success goes to those that seek to do their best in every scenario, whether or not it is to their immediate advantage.
Know the Value of Your Worth. Don’t Let Businesses Dictate Your Value.
Know the value of your worth. Just because God wants us to excel at our jobs, does not mean that we must be “shackled” by your employment. As a child of God, you have been destined by God to accomplish great things. And it is never too late to make a positive change if you find that your workplace is feeding you too much negative energies.
Never ever look at yourself simply from the perspective as an individual on the labor market. Unfortunately in the capitalistic society, many businesses often view their employees as just another cog in the whole system. Instead God wants you to see your true worth, the one that He has called you to. Look at yourself just as He looks upon you through His own eyes and with His unfailing love.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” // 1 Peter 4:10.
Is It Time to Change Your Job or Profession?
“Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.” // 1 Corinthians 7:20
This verse in the bible cautions us against changing jobs too quickly at a whim, but instead seek to discern God’s true intentions for you. Oftentimes God does not simply appear with a sign that specifically dictates what role or profession who must be in.
God’s calling is for you must full use of your talents to spread joy, peace and love in your workplace. He calls on you to work hard and excel in your job, for the sake of doing it well. But you must also know your own worth and do not allow others to take advantage of you, and sap your divine light.
Child of God, you deserve the richest blessings and fulfillment in life. If your workplace isn’t the most ideal, try your best to spread God’s light to the people there. If the system persists and continues to wear you down, then it might be time to switch employment to one that values you better.
Indeed, it is a joyous task to employ your divine profession, to use your skills and talents to spread light and love in the world. So take courage dear one, for God walks with you. Embrace your divine profession with an open heart and let your life be a testimony of God’s love.
