Have you ever found yourself in a dark and hopeless situation, feeling lost and alone? It can be easy to let the darkness consume us and drain our energy, to give in to circumstance. But Christ has a higher purpose for you. Not only shall you find the light, but He has also chosen you to BE the light that shines for others. As Christians, we have a “hidden” source of light and strength that can help us shine even in the darkest of times.
In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus tells his disciples, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
As followers of Christ, we are called to be the light of the world and to reflect His goodness to all. We are the bearers of God’s love that keeps the world running. So even in the midst of darkness, we can trust that God will give us the energy and strength we need to keep shining.
Charging Up With God’s Love
It’s perfectly reasonable to experience “low moments” in life when we feel drained and overwhelmed. Just like a battery needs to be charged to function properly, we too need to charge up with God’s love and presence. When we spend time in prayer and meditation, we can recharge our spiritual batteries and tap into the source of our strength.
In Psalm 16:11, it says, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” When we spend time in God’s presence, we can experience joy and peace that surpasses all understanding. It is in this place of connection with God that we can recharge and be filled with the energy we need to make an impact in our lives.
The Power Source
In a darkened room, even a small flame can make all the difference. The darkness immediately fades away and you can see everything clearly. A single spark is all that’s needed to start a powerful wave of renewal and faith.
In John 1:5, it says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” This is a powerful reminder that no matter how dark our circumstances may seem, God’s light will always overcome the darkness. As long as you have a sliver of hope in the Lord, it shall multiply and grow into a raging wildfire. When we choose to shine brightly, we become a beacon of hope and love to those around us.
The Currents of Faith
Our faith journey is like the ebb and flow of energy. There may be times when we feel drained and unable to move forward, but if we tap into the energy of God’s love and grace, we can be carried by its current. In Isaiah 40:29, it says, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” When we allow ourselves to be charged up with God’s energy, we can overcome any obstacles and shine brightly in the darkness. So let us continue to trust in God’s power to energize us, even when we feel weak or tired. May we always remember that God’s energy is limitless and will carry us through any situation.
A Complete Circuit
It is important to remember that as children of God, we are part of one body that is continuous and everlasting. One can liken it to a complete circuit where God’s love provides the energy that flows through each conduit.
This means that we not only receive God’s love and grace but must also give it freely to others. In Luke 6:38, Jesus says, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” When we give of ourselves to others, we create a circuit of love and grace that flows freely, energizing us and those around us.
So let us strive to complete the circuit of our faith by both receiving and giving God’s love and grace. May we always be open to giving of ourselves and sharing God’s light with those around us.
Let Us Pray
Dear God, thank you for being the source of our strength and light. Help us to trust in your presence and love, even in the midst of darkness. Fill us with your energy and joy so that we may shine brightly and share your love with those around us. May we always remember that your light will overcome any darkness we may face. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen 🙏
