YOUR DAILY PRAYER & BLESSINGS

Prayer to St. Raphael the Archangel for Miraculous Healing

Let Us Pray

There comes a moment in every long illness when the soul grows quiet… not in peace, but in exhaustion.

You have prayed. You have waited. You have followed every instruction the doctors have given you. And still, the suffering remains.

Maybe yours is a body that will not heal. Maybe yours is a wound carried for years, hidden behind a calm face. Maybe you sit beside someone you love, watching them slip further into pain, longing for a miracle that has not come.

It is in moments like these that Catholics through the centuries have turned to a particular friend in heaven… St. Raphael the Archangel, whose very name means “God heals.”

A Prayer to St. Raphael for Miraculous Healing

Glorious St. Raphael, Archangel of healing, you whose very name means “God heals,” I come before you with a heart heavy with need. You who stand before the throne of the Most High, intercede for me now in my hour of suffering.

You guided Tobias on his long journey and restored sight to his father Tobit’s eyes. Lead me through the valley of this affliction. Touch the places of my body and soul where pain has taken root and hope grows thin.

Holy Archangel, you are a healer sent from God. Lay your hand upon the wounds I cannot name, the sickness that medicine cannot reach, the weariness no remedy has eased. Ask the Lord to pour His mercy into every cell, every nerve, every breath that struggles for peace.

If it be God’s holy will, grant me the miracle I seek. Restore my body. Quiet my fears. Steady my heart. And if healing is to come slowly, or in ways I do not expect, give me the grace to wait without bitterness, to trust without seeing, to believe that the Father has not forgotten me.

St. Raphael, friend of the suffering, walk beside me through the dark passages of this illness. Drive away every spirit of fear and despair. Whisper to my soul the consolations of heaven. Place me in the wounded hands of Jesus, who is the true Physician of body and soul.

Pray for me, St. Raphael, and for all who carry pain. May the healing power of God flow through your intercession, and may every prayer offered in tears return to me as peace, as strength, and life.

Amen.

The Archangel Whose Name Means “God Heals”

St. Raphael is one of only three archangels named in Sacred Scripture. His story unfolds in the Book of Tobit, where God sends him to accompany the young man Tobias on a long and dangerous journey. Along the way, Raphael protects him, prepares a remedy for his father’s blindness, and finally reveals his true identity as “one of the seven angels who stand before the Lord.”

That is who he still is. He is not a distant figure trapped inside an old story. He stands even now before the throne of God, and he has been given a particular mission in the life of the Church… to be a friend to those who are sick, to those who suffer, to those who travel through fear.

The Catholic tradition has long invoked him in hospital rooms, in chapels, in the silence of trembling prayers. When everything human has been exhausted, the Church remembers that God still sends His angels.

When You Have Run Out of Places to Turn

There is something profoundly Catholic about asking a saint or an angel to pray for you. It is not a replacement for prayer offered directly to God. It is a recognition that we are part of a great family of grace, a communion in which the saints and angels intercede on our behalf before the Father.

When you cry out to St. Raphael for healing, you are not bargaining with heaven. You are reaching for the hand of a friend who has been entrusted by God with this very ministry. You are saying, in the simplest possible way… “I cannot carry this alone. Pray with me. Stand with me. Ask the Lord on my behalf.”

And he does. Quietly. Faithfully. Without ever drawing attention to himself. Every tear you have shed in your sickness has been gathered. Every whispered plea has been carried into the presence of God.

Trusting the Healer When the Healing Is Slow

Sometimes God heals suddenly, and we rejoice. Sometimes He heals gradually, and we must learn to recognize His work in small mercies… a deeper sleep, a moment of relief, a fresh courage to face another day. And sometimes, in a wisdom we cannot yet understand, He allows the suffering to remain, drawing us closer to the Cross and to the heart of Christ.

It can be hard to accept that healing does not always come in the form we asked for. But the prayers of St. Raphael are never wasted. Even when the body does not mend, the soul is being shaped, deepened, prepared for an eternity where there will be no sickness at all and every tear will be wiped away.

Trust that your prayer has been heard. Trust that an archangel of heaven is interceding for you. Trust that the Father, who knows every tear, is not absent from this pain.

You are not alone in this affliction. The God who made you sees you, loves you, and has placed a healing angel at your side. Whatever the morning brings, He will walk it with you… and He will not let you walk it alone.

“He sent forth his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.” (Psalm 107:20)
