Dearest child, have you experienced the pain of being ostracized or bullied because of the way that you are, or your ideals & beliefs? As you navigate this blessing of life that God has granted you, often you may encounter individuals or situations that seem to work against your peace. Whilst you cannot fully control the type of situations that you experience, the one thing that you have absolute power over is how you choose to react to them.
It is in our human nature to get upset and wish to retaliate, especially when faced with upsetting circumstances. But remember that you always have a choice to chose between anger and the love of Christ. Instead of giving in to negative energies, why not place your trust in the Lord who shall never let you down? Let not these negative situations tarnish the peace that you have created in your hearts, but instead rely on God to fight on your behalf.
Punitive Damages Is Not Justice
Some may think that choosing peace is a sign of weakness when you can retaliate and cause greater hurt back to someone who offends you. It’s human nature to want to take matters into your own hands. When someone wrongs us, the urge to react and defend can be overpowering. Yet there is a profound wisdom in remembering that not every battle is yours to fight. For does not the bible call us to exercise a greater authority over our lives?
Choosing to serve God means that we accept all of His teachings into our lives and strive to live in the same breath as Jesus has taught us. By resisting the urge to act negatively and instead opening your heart to God’s grace, you allow Him to work miracles in your life.
The need for vengeance against transgressions made against us must never outweigh our desire to seek God in everything we do.
Beware of “Instant Justice”
It’s likely that you would have come across various videos titled as “instant karma” or “instant justice” where the people who have done wrong are often met with some form of immediate tragedy or nasty fate. Often the comments are even more heated with people saying things like “he deserved it”, “good that he met such a sorry fate” and words to those effect. It’s tempting to also get carried away with such chilling thoughts that do not actually align with your good nature.
But stop for a minute and ask yourself my dear one, is this truly justice? Or is it simply playing to the emotional part of your mind that craves for vengeful thoughts? The Devil is cunning and often hides his traps in perceived acts of “justice” that goes against the teachings of Christ.
Social justice can also be dangerous because of a “herd mentality” and often focuses too much on “vengeful actions” as a form of justice. As children of God, you are called to stand out from the crowd and spread love instead of hate.
