St. Francis – God’s Inner Peace Washes Over Your Heart

Dear child of God, in a world of chaos and unrest the real turmoil lies within the heart. How are we to attain peace and rise above all the strife and suffering?

Because you have known Him and accepted Him into your life, you have been blessed with His grace & love. Fortunately for us as Christians, we know that true peace can be found in Christ. In Philippians 4:7, the apostle St. Paul describes a “peace that surpasses all understanding” that comes only from the Lord.

Even when the world around us is disorganized and unclear, we can find comfort and peace in God’s peace. It is through our faith in God that we are able to above all the confusion and find serenity. The Lord cleanses us off undeserved pain, He takes away our burdens, He grants us the wisdom to discern our actions for good, and He provides the strength we need to overcome all.

Inner Peace Comes From God

It is far more valuable to have Christ in your life than the riches & gold of this world. And it should give you great comfort to know that God is obsessed with His children. The powers of heaven are watching over and guarding you, leading you along the way to His kingdom.

The presence of Christ is always with us, we need only to seek it. He is able to bestow upon you an inexhaustible supply of joy, infinite supply of grace, and an endless supply of wisdom. He is a never-ending source of enduring hope.

Many people look for peace in a number of different places, like in their material possessions, their relationships, or their success. However, true and lasting inner peace can only be found in Christ.

Jesus states in John 14:27, “I give you my peace, which I leave with you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Keep your minds from wandering and do not be afraid.” This peace that Jesus offers is not reliant on events or outside forces; rather, it is a peace that goes beyond all comprehension. It is a peace that can calm our anxieties, heal our wounds, and give us hope for the future.

Surrendering to God’s Will

You must be willing to submit to God’s will for your life if you want to experience inner peace. This means letting go of your own plans and desires and trusting in the plans that God has for you.

Giving our lives over to God requires you to put your plans aside  and allow Him to have His way in every area. giving Him the freedom to direct your decisions and your actions. You  have to submit to God’s perfect will. Don’t trust yourself but instead  trust in God. We can find peace even in life’s storms by trusting in God and surrendering to Him.

Forgiveness and Letting Go of Bitterness

Forgiveness is a crucial component of achieving inner peace. Holding onto resentment and bitterness can rob us of our peace and cause emotional turmoil.

Harboring resentment and bitterness will only rob us of our peace and cause distress. Remember that you are NOT the sum of your pain and sufferings, and you can rise above all of them with the help of Christ.

Although it’s not always simple, forgiveness is essential for our own emotional and spiritual health. When we forgive others, we release ourselves from the burden of anger and resentment and allow God’s peace to fill our hearts.

Practicing Gratitude

Inner peace can be attained by cultivating an attitude of gratitude. “Since you were called to peace as members of one body, let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. and give thanks,” says Colossians 3:15.

Gratitude opens your spiritual eyes. Giving thanks to God has a lovely cycle: the more you thank Him, the more you notice His work in and around you. Gratitude enables you to perceive God’s presence, His close attention, and His impeccable timing. My dear brothers, do not be fooled. Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father and is given by Him.

The easiest and most effective method to thank God is through prayer. Sincere, straightforward prayers that are offered from the heart and convey gratitude for the great life you have been given will have a profound impact on God.

Regarding prayer, there are no absolutes. Just as you are, come to God. It’s never too late to start praying, even if you’ve never done it before. Your daily life is a testament to God’s transforming power. Spend some time each day expressing your thanks for that life; it will make everything you do more enjoyable.

Let Us Pray

Dear God, Please help me to trust you and let go of my worries. Fill my heart with your love, joy, and unending peace. May your presence bring me comfort and peace and may your grace renew my soul and comfort me. May I find peace in knowing you and resting in your embrace.

St. Francis, pray for us. Amen 🙏
