St. Joseph – Shielding Your Household From Storms

In times of crisis we can find comfort and safety by trusting in God’s guidance. If this wonderful & magnificent God is willing to sacrifice His own son for our sake, what more will He do when his children call out to Him for aid in their dire moments?

No matter how threatening, or how big a storm we are facing, know that God’s protection will never fail you.

Even the Holy Family in the Bible was not exempt from hardship or challenges. Such is the nature of life, that we are thrust into difficult situations and rely on the strength of our faith to overcome and grow. Every household must realize the importance of building a strong foundation of faith.

A house is not just a physical structure that provides comfort, the true essence of a household is creating a spiritual home for your family. By grounding yourself in faith and trust, you can weather any storm that comes your way.

Trust in God’s Protection

Trusting in God’s protection is one of the most crucial things you can do to protect your families. In Psalm 91 it is stated,

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will refer to the Lord as my God and say, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress.'”

We can have peace knowing that God will keep us and our families safe as long as we put our trust in Him. This does not imply that we will never face difficulties or trials, but it does mean that God will be with us through every circumstance, offering consolation, courage, and direction.

Therefore, my children, I encourage you to trust in God’s protection for your family.  As you work to keep your loved ones safe and secure, ask the Lord for wisdom and direction.

Make Wise Decisions

You must be vigilant and discerning, considering the potential risks and consequences of your actions. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and do not rely on your own understanding. in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” God will lead us in the right direction if we give Him control over our plans and decisions.

My dear children, seek the Spirit of God by connecting with His Word! Simply pray to God and ask Him to reveal His will to you, then read your Bible. These factors must be linked to making wise and godly decisions. I encourage you to seek God’s wisdom as you make decisions that affect your family’s safety and security.  Take into account the counsel of reliable friends and advisors, and always be prepared to adjust your plans when necessary.

The Ultimate Shelter

As we face storms in our lives, it’s important to remember that God is our ultimate refuge. Let Him be the central pillar of your household that binds your family together. And remember His teachings not just for our neighbors, but let God’s love begin in our household.

Our families are shaped by the energies that we put in, down to the little details like your daily interactions and acts of love for one another. Your behaviors and attitude can significantly affect the mentality and decisions of your loved ones, including your children.

Colossians 3:11–14, “Consequently, as God’s holy and beloved people, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And put love, which brings all of these virtues together into perfect unity, over all of them.”

So, my friends, I challenge you to set an example in everything you do. Live a life that glorifies God and serves others, showing others love and kindness, forgiving as the Lord has forgiven you.

Pray for Protection

Dear one, please never undervalue the role that prayer plays in safeguarding your families. When you pray for your families’ protection, you invite God’s presence and power into your lives, creating a shield of faith that can protect you from harm.

To the best of your ability, make sure you have prayed earnestly and gotten your heart into a state where it has no will of its own. Make certain that you have rejected “feelings” and “impressions” in favor of seeking the Spirit of God through His Word.

You can pray for physical safety, emotional restoration, and spiritual sturdiness, knowing that God hears your prayers and is dependable to answer them. As a result, my friends, I urge you to instill a daily practice of prayer in your household. Ask God for protection and direction, and put your faith in His love and concern for your family.
