TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Trust God With Your Finances

We turn to God in many areas of our life and trust in His grace to see things through. It’s pretty simple to place our faith for easy stuff, like having a beautiful morning, helping in our relationships and the many mini-miracles that happen in our day to day. Yet when we are faced with a money challenge, it’s almost so easy to fall into despair, fear and anxiety.

Some of us believe that God “hates” money and we are hesitant to turn to him for financial assistance in our urgent needs. This couldn’t be further from the truth. It is not the need for money, but when we harbor greed in accumulating wealth that disconnects us from Him.

God does not want us stuck in poverty and lacking our basic needs, He longs to see us prosper and living in abundance. He wants us to be free from all stress, fear and panic so that we can leave our best lives during our limited time here on earth.

There is nothing immoral about desiring wealth to fulfil our needs and help those around us. We should not feel unworthy for coming to the Lord and asking Him to open up His bank of abundance to us when we face economic hardships.

When we take a broader perspective look on our lives, it’s obvious that God presence has played a major role in all that we do, including our finances. The majority of time is not meant to be spent worrying on how to pay the bills or whether we have enough to eat. Let us entrust all our worries into his care. Learning to trust in God with our financial needs is the first step to achieving a financial independence & security, and that we may focus on the most important aspects of our life.

Place Your Finance Under His Stewardship Trust

Everything that we receive comes from our Heavenly Father. Our assets, windfalls, bank account balances and income are are all gifts from the Almighty. Oftentimes the rich grow prideful and may believe that they have greater worth than others because of the wealth that they have accumulated, without realizing that God has the ultimate control over everything.

When God created us in the garden of Eden and granted us dominion over the His works, we were granted the responsibility of His kingdom. When it comes to money it is important to realize that we do not “own” financial assets, but rather are placed as stewards to take care of God’s gifts.

As such we are to act in a responsible manner to put his assets to good use, and not risk them on simple pleasures and distractions that will disconnect us from his love.

‘Otherwise, you might say in your heart, “It is my own power and the strength of my own hand that has got me this wealth.” Remember then the Lord, your God, for he is the one who gives you the power to get wealth, by fulfilling, as he has now done, the covenant he swore to your ancestors.”

– Deuteronomy 8:17–18

This is why you should place your trust in Him over your financial circumstance for He is the true provider from which all wealth and abundance springs from! He will grant us the security and sustenance that we need to fulfil our mission on earth.

Be Generous With Your Wealth, For God Has Been Generous to You

There are so many verses in the bible that warns against the sin of greed and hoarding our wealth to fulfil temptations, and instead encourages us to display richness in charity to his creations. As stewards of His gifts, our responsibility is in seeing that the joys we have received in His name are also put to good use!

Practice having contentment in all the circumstances that we face, be they good or bad. For gratitude is more than just an emotion, but a virtue that secures happiness and “richness” in our lives.

"In every circumstance and in all things I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of living in abundance and of being in need. I have the strength for everything through him who empowers me." - Philippians 4:12-13

Our relationship with God is the true sustenance that we need to get through any financial hardships. Set our minds at ease and trust in the providence of the Lord from which all goodness flows.

As we share in the wealth of God by practicing the principle that he has thought as, we shall no longer be controlled by money and achieve true financial freedom in our lives. God’s blessings flow like a river and our cup shall overflow. When this happens, we are called to also treat others with the same love that He has shown us!

The generosity that we put forth for others form the ripples of a big wave that will overflow into the lives of others. God notices our efforts and blesses us with more assets when we manage them well.
