St. Lorenzo Ruiz – The Perfect Host

“When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong.” – Leviticus 19:33

When inviting friends or family into your homes, we have been taught by the Lord to be good hosts and to make them feel as comfortable as possible. How we welcome others into our homes is a strong reflection of our character and upbringing.

In a similar light, all who have yet to accept the Lord into their lives are our guests in God’s domain, and we their hosts. We are called to serve them with the same warmth and affection that we bring into our homes.

Not by simply “convincing” them verbally that the Lord is good, but by showing them His ways through our love and actions.

Saint Lorenzo Ruiz comes today to let us know that indeed the perfect host does exist. Just as we wish to take our place at the table of plenty that the Lord has prepared for us, we too must also treat others with warmth and hospitality.

God is the perfect host and he does not tire of sending us invites regardless of whether we accept or not. He understands that we are human and most times we neither know what we are doing or saying. He knows that accepting the invitation is the best decision for us thus the reason why he is always on the lookout for us.

Having experienced the love of our Heavenly Father it is our responsibility to also spread that love to the rest of the world.

A Server in God’s Kingdom

In the bible, Mathew 9:37 states that; then Jesus said to his disciples, “the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” The kingdom of God is our final home as Christians thus we are called to become servers.

In order to be good hosts to those that are invited to his table, these are some important steps to remember:

We Are Ambassadors Of Christ

As Christians, our every word and action are a reflection of the love that Christ has for us. Should we invite guests into our homes and treat them poorly, they shall never desire to return or visit as once more.

The Lord works his miracles through us, thus we are called to invite others into his love.

Never forget that every action we take could have a big impact on someone’s life. Through our actions, let us carry the light of Christ and spread his love to illuminate the darkness.

Then every one shall feel and experiences the graces of our ever-loving God.

through our actions so that when others look at us, they may feel and experience the graces of God.

Being ambassadors of the perfect host means we need

Speak The Truth Always

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the light.”

The domain of God is built upon truth.

Oftentimes it is easier to avoid speaking the truth than to confront wrongdoings or to put ourselves situations. In fact, this was the primary fear of the apostles even though they had followed Christ throughout their lives.

Simon peter was even fearful to the point where he denied Christ three times. When we speak a lie, it becomes easier to do so and leads to a mountain of lies that consume us.

Even when in doubt we must hold on to the truth. For our God who sees and hears all will be with us and grant us the strength to overcome and challenges that may arise.

Let our love for His justice be a shining example to those around us, that they may be inspired to God through our actions.

All Are Invited Into God’s Domain

God loves us because we are his children, and have accepted him in our hearts.

But his love isn’t only limited to Christians, which is why he so passionately calls on us to evangelize other non-believers – that they may taste the salvation of the Lord and be moved.

As his servers we have been tasked to send out invitations to all the peoples.

Remember that we are not merely existing for ourselves, but we are His vessels for the great multitude of miracles that the world so greatly needs.

We are the instruments of the Lord, made invincible by the fire of the Holy Spirit.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

– Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

Prayer to Saint Loreno Ruiz

“Dear Saint Lorenzo Ruiz, thank you for reminding me of my invitation by the perfect host.

Most times I tend to ignore the call to be a server in his kingdom but he keeps on reminding me of his graces.

Let me be the instrument of the Lord, and his miracles flow through me.

I pray that I may always remember the love God has for me and always honour his call.

St. Lorenzo Ruiz, pray for us.”

Amen 🙏
